Redstone Fire
Each year on the day after Thanksgiving, the Residents of Redstone, CO gather for a large bombfire in the parking lot of th Redstone Inn. They gather a years worth of objects to be piled into a large mountain of wood and paper and light it at sunset.
They use it as a way to clear away the old and dead objects around them, branches, memories and even kitchen cabinets. The fire is very warm and the air is quite cold, and the entire process is amazing to see.

2005 Update
The last year already seems like a distant memory. It seems as I grow older, each year seems to be moving by faster and faster, like my life is speeding up and pushing with a momentum that I can’t control. I feel that we are on the right path and that as challenges become more significant and obstacles more difficult to overcome, they are more examples of how we are ultimately, doing the right thing.
This last year we celebrated our first wedding anniversary, a feat in its own right. We also moved into what I sincerely hope is our last apartment until we are finished with school. It is small, but feels like home.
Most of the year was spent working and at school. Valium and I are still doing well at school and should be finished relatively soon. We are looking at graduating in the fall of 2007. After that, we don’t know what will be in store, but we are both beginning to consider continuing our education and pursuing post graduate degrees in our fields.
My family was taken by surprise when my grandmother passed away in the spring. She had been really doing well and it seemed as though we were going to have her with us for a long time still, but the fates had other plans. We also saw the loss of a long time family friend, who had helped take care of my other grandmother for years. They will both be greatly missed.
We had a brief addition to our family, a wonderful being we called Baxter. While he was sadly not right for us, I know that he will find a new family that will love him as much as we would have. He was only with us for a short time, but his separation was still met with a great sadness.
From here the next year looks like it is going to be another busy year, with the strong possibility of us getting the chance to spend a good amount of time in Europe. We are participating in a summer session in Florence, Italy where we will study photography and hope to be able to extend our European stay by a couple of weeks and take some time to visit Paris and London.
We would like to thank those of you who helped us out in 2005 and hope to see more of you in 2006. Until then, I hope that the New Year brings love and laughter to your home.
